"I feel so much better now," I said sipping my martini.

"Well that makes ME feel better," Liza smiled.

We had taken a nice stroll through Rose Garden. It was nice and quiet. There was no clicking to me found. This simple fact had made me exceptionally giddy that day. It was like nothing had happened last night. Liza had fully convinced me that stress was the main cause of what had happened. I've never doubted Liza in the whole ten years I'd been seeing her.

Now we were having lunch in a cute little outdoor café chatting just like we used to.

"So, how's it going with Larry?" She asked curiously.

"Oh, it's just wonderful," I beamed. She nodded her head every once in a while as I babbled on about how perfect things were. When I was finished she looked at me with those all seeing silver eyes. It was mystifying how she seemed to be staring into your very soul.

"Oh Taylor," she finally sighed. "You're a terrible liar."

"What do you mean?" I asked looking down nervously.

"When you're ready to talk about it, I'm ready to listen."

I didn't like this. I was feeling so good this morning, now I was becoming uneasy. No, my day was not going to take this turn.

"I'm sorry," I murmured. "I have a meeting and I can't be late."

I got up and left without saying goodbye to Liza. I quickly walked out of the café not wanting to look back at the hurt look that was most likely on her face. Guilt swept over me like an enormous wave. I shouldn't have just left her like that, but the last thing I needed was my shrink trying to be my marriage counselor.

I decided to be slightly truthful and headed to the fashion district, downtown. The offices for T&C were located in a magnificent building on Olympic Boulevard. I smiled, as I walked through the front doors. I always loved going to the office. It was one of the few places where I could have absolute silence.

I strolled up to the front desk, where my secretary, Staci, was talking on the phone. Leaning over the counter, I tapped her on the shoulder. Her curly red hair bounced, as she jumped. She spun around and said into the phone, "I'm gonna hafta call ya back babe."

She hung up and said to me, "What can I do for ya Ms. Reinerston?"

"You're lucky I like you Staci, or you would've been fired a long time ago."

"I know," she grinned showing off her pearly white teeth.

I smiled back and asked, "Is there anything for me?"

"Actually yeah, there's an Asian lady in your office. Said she had ta talk to ya ASAP. Looked professional."

I raised an eyebrow and she just shrugged. My office was on the fifteenth floor. I pressed the up button for the elevator and waited. When the doors opened, I was surprised to see Cameron standing there with an ice pack to her head.

"Well I'm surprised to see you here, alive at least," I chuckled, as I stepped into the elevator.

"Shut up," she groaned.

"So how was the rest of your night?"

"What would you say if I told you that I might possible be pregnant?"

"I'd say it must've been a pretty damn good night."

"Then yes it was."

I rolled my eyes and asked, "So what about this woman in my office?"

"Hell, I dunno and frankly I don't care. You can deal with it. As of two seconds ago my work day is over."

She staggered out of the elevator and headed for the front doors. I shook my head as the elevator doors slowly closed.

After it reached my floor, I took my sweet time walking to my office. Most likely the woman in there was a lawyer who was going to have a spastic rant about some odd thing or another. That was just what I needed to make this day better.

Instead of opening my door right away, I pressed my ear against it. Not the most professional approach, but very effective. I could faintly hear a woman talking to an unknown person. I figured she was probably on a cell – phone. I strained my ear to hear what she was saying.

"No I haven't talked to her, but don't worry, I will. Don't worry, I'll handle it. Everything is ready. Yes. I'll try to hurry. Goodbye."

I stepped back and contemplated about what I'd just heard. There were still an infinite amount of possibilities as to why she was here. Guess I was going to find out. I squared my shoulders, opened my door, ad strode into the room.

The woman stood up from one of the two armchairs in front of my desk and stuck out a hand towards me.

"Ms. Reinerston it's a pleasure to finally meet you. My name is Cassandra Keyes."

Ms. Keyes was a very stunning woman with dark – eyes. Her long straight black hair included bangs chopped off just above her eyebrows. She stood maybe a couple inches shorter then me.

"I took her hand and said, "And you as well. What brings you to my office?"

"I work with a special agency for the government and I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions regarding certain events the took place a few years back."

"Fire away," I said sitting behind my desk.

"Is it true that you are the sole survivor of the Slaughterhouse Massacre?"

I cringed, as she said it. It never sat right with me that the city of Los Angeles gave that horrifying night a nickname.

"No one's asked me that in a long time," I said calmly. "But yes I am."

"I thought so."

She smiled to herself like she had uncovered some enormous secret. She pulled out a note pad and pen.

"No," I frowned.

"No what?" she asked surprised.

"No interviews," I said shaking my head. "I had enough of those ten years ago."

"Oh," she laughed. "Trust me Ms. Reinerston. I'm not a reporter."

"Then just what is it that this group of yours does?" I asked eyeing her.

"Well, you could kind of call us intergalactic bounty hunters."

"So you hunt…"

"Aliens, yes. Then we harvest their weapons and technology."

I couldn't help but laugh. "You can't be serious. You actually expect me to believe that?"

She made a steeple with her fingers and frowned, "I'm very serious Ms. Reinerston."

I stopped laughing and cleared my throat. "Well then. What do you want from me?"

She looked away and didn't answer me.

"What?"

When she spoke, it was very tentative. "There seems to be an extra terrestrial that's been following you. We believe that it was one of the ones from the incident that took place ten years ago."

I couldn't speak. Even if I could've I wouldn't have known what to say. At first I didn't believe her. Lieutenant Harrigan told me that they were gone forever. He wouldn't have lied to me, would he?

I spoke slowly and deliberately, "Ms. Keyes I was assured after the incident that all those aliens were either dead or gone. I had no reason not to believe him then, and I still don't have one now. If you'll excuse me Ms. Keyes, I have a very busy day."

We both stood up and I opened my office door for her. While walking out, she opened her purse and handed a picture to me.

"If you're not going to believe me maybe you'll believe this. Here's my card as well in case you want to talk to me."

"Thanks," I said shutting the door behind her. I tossed the card in the waste basket by my desk. I had no intention of calling her ever. I sat back at my desk and took a look at the picture. It was a picture of me from the other night. There wasn't anything special about it until I looked closer. Behind me I could faintly see the outline of someone walking behind me. To most people it would probably look like nothing, but I knew exactly what it was. Harrigan was wrong. Not all of the predators were gone. There was one right here in L.A. and the Keyes woman was right. It was following me. I decided to get that card back out of the trash can.
